    ABOUT DISTRICT COURT

    In Datia district, before the independence of India, the executive and The judiciary were not separate, but were concentrated in the hands of the ruling king of the state, in which the king was the head of the judicial system, under the guidance of king, the judicial system was in the hands of the Diwan and the small matters of military administration. Matters were resolved by rulers, feudal lords, sikdars and military officers.

    Under the modern judicial system, Datia district was first included under Chhatarpur Civil District, in which the main bench of the District Judge was in Chhatarpur district, and Tikamgarh and Datia districts were also included under its territorial jurisdiction.

    As a civil district, a separate full-time District and Sessions Judge's Court was established in Datia on 15-07-1978, at that time Shri B.D. Bajpai was appointed as the first District Judge of Datia, who served from 15-07-1978. He remained in office till 05-02-1979 and Chief Judicial Magistrate Shri N.H. Khan remained in office. At that time the court used to operate in Rajgarh Fort. Presently the court is functioning in the new building from 28-10-2013.
